Outreach
Auburn Memorial Hospital's goal is to be a resource to the entire community. By providing health and wellness education through free programs and services such as our Medically Speaking lecture series, Childbirth Classes, Women's Health Institute, Heart Expo, and many others, we strive to keep our community healthy as well as caring for those who are ill or injured.
Community Relationships
AMH offers tours to school children and also is pleased to receive donations for patients from various community groups.
M.A.S.H. Camp
Auburn Memorial Hospital (AMH) hosted its fourth annual Medical Academy of Science and Health (M.A.S.H.) Camp on July 8-9, 2008. The two-day camp gave 8th and 9th grade students a real-world look into healthcare.
The 15 junior high school students from throughout the Finger Lakes region participated in interactive lectures with health professionals in real-world settings.

Play Areas Redesigned
The children’s play areas at Auburn Memorial Hospital’s (AMH) Emergency Care Unit (ECU) and urgent care clinics were recently redesigned by Auburn Girl Scout Troop 749. The Troop’s fundraising efforts since last October raised $1,500 that was used to purchase toys, furniture and books.
The Troop’s redesign of the play area at the Grant Avenue facility was completed on July 14 and the ECU and the hospital’s satellite facility in Skaneateles was transformed on July 21. This community relations project was developed after the Troop decided it wanted to do something to help children. Since all the members of the Troop have been to the ECU, they thought it would be a good idea to make it a more friendly place for other children in the future.

Troop 442 Visits Maternity Unit
For example, Junior Girl Scout Troop 442 of Weedsport recently visited the Maternity Unit and donated six baby blankets for newborns, and were given a tour by Melanie Mulvaney, PCA. After the visit, Maureen Ogden, Troop Leader, wrote: “Thank you for the wonderful tour that Melanie gave my girls. It made a doubly wonderful experience for them — not just the giving, but also the learning! They have been talking about it all week.”
