Auburn Memorial Hospital’s (AMH) Finger Lakes Weight Loss Program (FLWLP) was recently named a Blue Cross and Blue Shield “Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery”. The new distinction shows that the AMH FLWLP exceeded the criteria demonstrating reliability in delivering bariatric surgical care and better overall outcomes for its patients.

11th Annual Women’s Health Institute Another Huge Success
Auburn Memorial Hospital (AMH) held its 11th annual Women’s Health Institute on Saturday, October 18 at the Holiday Inn. This year’s theme was “Our Mothers, Our Daughters, Our Health”. Keynote speaker Carrie Lazarus, News Channel 9 anchor, kicked off the day-long event for nearly 200 women. The attendees heard presentations from AMH physicians and other health care professionals covering a wide range of women’s health issues.

On Saturday, September 20, Auburn Memorial Hospital (AMH) held its annual Heart Expo. The free event was from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. complete with health screenings, special events and lots of fun for the kids.

AMH Golf Tournament Raises More Than $103,000 for Foundation
This year’s proceeds will benefit obstetrical services at AMH. Since 1996, more than $915,000 has been raised through the golf tournament for the Auburn Hospital System Foundation to fund clinical projects and programs.

Melinda Gleason is leaving Auburn Memorial Hospital (AMH). After more than 50 years of working for AMH, Gleason is retiring from the only place she’s ever worked. She reached the 50 year mark on May 17 and will be retiring September 5.

Auburn Memorial Hospital’s Dr. Carl Weiss III hosted two experts on bariatric surgery and hernia repair at Rosalie’s Restaurant in Skaneateles on August 7. Joining Dr. Weiss, Director of the Finger Lakes Weight Loss Center, was Drs. Guy Voeller and George Woodman. Dr. Voeller spoke on the latest trends in herniology while Dr. Woodman discussed weight loss surgery options. Dr. Weiss presented on inguinal hernia repair.

Children’s Play Areas Redesigned by Girl Scout Troop 749
The children’s play areas at Auburn Memorial Hospital’s (AMH) Emergency Care Unit (ECU) and urgent care clinics were recently redesigned by Auburn Girl Scout Troop 749. The Troop’s fundraising efforts since last October raised $1,500 that was used to purchase toys, furniture and books.
