Weiss Named Fellow; Weight Loss Program Gains Distinction
October 1, 2008 – Carl Weiss III, M.D., Ph.D. was recently named a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Weiss is the director of the Fingerlakes Weight Loss Program at AMH as well as the hospital’s Chief of Surgery.
To date, Dr. Weiss has performed 142 Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgeries and 14LAP-BAND® procedures at the Finger Lakes Weight Loss Program. Over his career, Dr. Weiss has done more than 380 gastric bypass surgeries.
Also, Auburn Memorial Hospital was recently named a “Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery”* by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. The new distinction shows that AMH has been identified as a leading institution that meets clinically validated quality standards and delivers better overall outcomes in patient care.
