Critical Care Unit

Philosophy

To provide patients with optimum, quality care during critical times through continuous nursing assessment, observation and sophisticated intervention to prevent complications and restore wellness. We acknowledge and integrate the importance of the collaborative role of all members of the health team to assure the highest quality of care to the patient and his/her family.

Critical Care Unit

The 10-bed Critical Care Unit (CCU) has the most state-of-the-art technology providing critical care patients with the best care available. All critical care patients are fully monitored by doctors and nurses 24 hours a day.

Third Memorial (Telemetry Unit)

The 24-bed multidisciplinary care unit located on 3rd Memorial is a full telemetry unit, where all 24 patients are able to be monitored, allowing for the more precise monitoring of a patient’s condition during day-to-day activities to allow for fine-tuning of medications and prevention.

Chaplin
To provide for the spiritual needs of the patient, the hospital chaplin in on call 24 hours a day. Priests are also on call for Catholic patients.

Suggestions

Visiting Hours
Every attempt will be made to allow flexibility in visiting hours. However, please respect our patients’ needs for rest and privacy during some procedures and routine care. Nursing staff may request your absence from the patient’s room when it is deemed to be in the best interest of the patient.

Length of Stay
The length of stay in the CCU is determined by the physician according to the patient’s condition. As the patient improves, it may be necessary to transfer the patient to a general floor during the evening or night hours to accommodate other critical admissions. If this occurs, the family will be notified at 8:00 a.m. (Please let us know if you would prefer to be called at the time of transfer)

Time Out
When a doctor or nurse comes to help the patient, you can help them by stepping out of the room temporarily.

Clothing
Your loved one will need only a robe, footwear and essential toilet articles (including toothbrush). Please take home unnecessary clothing.

Flowers
Because of limited space, please hold off on sending flowers until the patient has left the unit and is able to enjoy them.
