AMH’s Finger Lakes Weight Loss Program
Named Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery
Auburn Memorial Hospital’s (AMH) Finger Lakes Weight Loss Program (FLWLP) was recently named a Blue Cross and Blue Shield “Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery”. The new distinction shows that the AMH FLWLP exceeded the criteria demonstrating reliability in delivering bariatric surgical care and better overall outcomes for its patients.
“Dr. Carl Weiss’ leadership in bariatric surgery has been tremendous,” said Scott Berlucchi, President/CEO of Auburn Memorial Hospital. “He brought this vision of a bariatric center of excellence to the hospital and made it a reality. When it comes to bariatric surgery, Dr. Carl Weiss is the standard of excellence!”
The AMH FLWLP is led by Dr. Carl Weiss III, M.D., Ph.D., FACS. Presently, Dr. Weiss has performed more than 142 Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgeries and 25 LAP-BAND® procedures at the Finger Lakes Weight Loss Program. Over his career, Dr. Weiss has done more than 400 gastric bypass surgeries.
Dr. Weiss was recently named a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He is the hospital’s Chief of Surgery. In 2008, Dr. Weiss was honored as Real Hero by American Red Cross, Cayuga County Chapter.
Dr. Weiss leads bariatric surgery informational sessions on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Hospital’s auditorium. For more information on the FLWLP, or bariatric surgery, call 315-255-7544.
